You know you cant edit or do half the things you can do in Edius in virtual dub. 'Something ain't right, a free software has better quality than others that cost thousand more, GV, you guys going to let that happen to you?' so all of the edius users who came from premiere may have a faster choice when going to DVD. I will let you know how it looks between the two.
My project is just small enough where I can put both on one dvd to compare. I just dragged it to the time line and ran the encoder to convert to mpeg 2 ready to go to dvd for encore.
I was able to successfully import my canopus HQ file into a 1440x1080 premier pro hdv project. I may have stumbled on something decent, although expensive, for converting. Since I came from the 'dark side' read: Adobe I have a licensed copy of Premiere Pro CS3 and while I cant stand editing with it. Virtual Dub works great in terms of quality but all the back and forthing seems a bit reduntant.(would be nice if virtual dub could just go from Canopus HQ to m2t in a split stream for encore but oh well) Anyways, I have never noticed the conversion problems with Premiere when going from HD to SD for DVD. sorry if you guys are getting tired of hearing from me -) I am determined to find a good quality faster way to get to SD DVD from Edius to encore.
